  LEFRIG. TRADITIONAL
SAHRAWI CULTURAL FAIR

Organized by Sahrawi women, LeFrig is composed of several traditional haimas, one from each municipality (Daira) in the Ausserd camp and one from each region (Wilaya) within the camps. Each day they will show a different aspect of traditional Sahrawi life and culture

ROUNDTABLES

  • Jaimitna, Stories of Sahrawi Women in Resistance. Featuring women human rights defenders from the occupied Western Sahara.

  • Climate crisis, greenwashing of the occupation and resilience in Western Sahara. Featuring Sahrawi filmmakers and climate activists.

  • To Resist is to Win. Featuring guests from East Timor, Colombia, Palestine, Puerto Rico and Western Sahara.

  • Film and Social impact (MasterClass). How can film be used to produce significant social change? Movies that Matter human rights film festival’s Julie Nederkoorn offers concrete examples from around the world.

  JAIMITNA: STORYTELLING ART PROJECT

A jaima stitched with dresses belonging to Sahrawi women human rights defenders from the occupied territory that tells their stories. Located in the courtyard of the Women’s House adjacent to festival grounds

  EVENING IN THE DUNES

A sunset concert in the desert dunes just outside the Ausserd camp, with traditional Sahrawi musicians

SAHRAWI CULTURAL EXPO

Cultural exhibit showing the arts and traditions of Western Sahara

VIDEO DJ

Live audiovisual and music sessions on video loop projected on FiSahara screens

  DESERT STARTS VIRTUAL REALITY (VR)

Short VR film featuring Sahrawi astronomical wisdom on the skies above the Sahara Desert, by the collective Galileo Mobile in partnership with Sahrawi elders and astronomers

  CLOSING CEREMONY

Closing ceremony, featuring Sahrawi traditional dance and singing. During the event, the jury awards will be presented to the best films screened during the festival and to the best jaimas of Le Frig

  PEDRO PASTOR IN CONCERT

Pedro Pastor, accompanied by his guitarist Álvaro Navarro with whom he has been playing in Los Locos Descalzos for almost a decade, will close the festival with a repertoire featuring songs from his latest album Escorpiano, which demonstrates a leap in the quality of the artist’s musical composition and with which he continues to enrich his powerful musical legacy.
