SINOPSIS

Las mujeres siempre han estado en la primera línea de la resistencia saharaui contra el colonialismo y el expolio de su territorio, el Sáhara Occidental, por parte del reino de Marruecos. A pesar de la represión, intensificada por la ruptura del alto al fuego entre las fuerzas marroquíes y el movimiento saharaui de liberación nacional, el Frente Polisario, en noviembre de 2020, activistas que viven bajo ocupación se reunieron para documentar las más diversas violencias cometidas contra ellas, sus hijas, madres, hermanas y abuelas desde 1975 hasta la actualidad. Con una mirada sensible y cercana a las experiencias de las activistas, complementada con animaciones y datos estadísticos poco conocidos, Insumisas presenta este proceso histórico a partir de las voces de sus protagonistas en su triple rol de víctimas, investigadoras y activistas internacionales. El resultado es un registro potente de la gravedad y extensión de las violencias ejercidas por Marruecos contra las mujeres, pero también, y sobre todo, una fotografía del colonialismo a partir de la cuestión de género que sitúa en primer plano la fuerza inquebrantable de estas activistas para luchar por los derechos su pueblo.

SYNOPSIS

Saharawi women have always been at the forefront of the resistance against colonialism and the plunder of their territory by Morocco. In spite of Morocco’s repression, intensified by the collapse of the ceasefire with the Polisario Front in November 2020, activists living under occupation gathered to document the violence perpetrated against their daughters, mothers, sisters and grandmothers since 1975. This documentary explores this historical process through the voices of its protagonists in their triple roles as victims, researchers, and international activists. A sensitive and close analysis of these experiences is complemented by animations and statistics little known to the general public. The result is an astonishing record of the gravity and extent of the violence exercised by Morocco against women, but also a photograph of colonialism from a gender perspective that emphasizes the unwavering strength of these activists to fight for their people’s rights.

Samira nació en los campamentos, en medio del desierto, el único lugar que les fue cedido tras la llegada del invasor. Wangala is a short documentary about women’s resistance to the Moroccan occupation. Samira was born in the camps, in the middle of the desert, the only place that was given to them after the arrival of the invader. Through the concepts of torture, refuge and exile, we try to create a mosaic of experiences that explain the current situation of Sahrawi refugees in the camps, in exile and in the occupied territory.

Pequeño Sáhara es un documental animado que narra su historia, la de una gente solidaria y resistente que crece en donde a todo le cuesta crecer.

Those who do not know the Sahara think that in the desert there is only sand. But here there are children, who play and draw and make movies, and who would like not to have to think about war. In the desert there is a Europen colony, an occupied country, called Western Sahara, and there are thousands of Sahrawi refugees living a hard life in exile. Little Sahara is an animated documentary that tells their story, that of a solidarity and resilient people who try thrive and grow up in the Hamada, where everything struggles to grow.

DESERT PHOSfate is an experimental film that weaves through the multilayered narrations of phosphate, sand particles, plants and human and mineral dispalcement as well as the loss of Sahrawi indiginious nomadic ways of living. It also brings up strong expressions of community resilience through gardens and art. The film is made by a Sahrawi artist who attempts to decolonize his methodology of making films and telling stories, so he bases it on elements and narratives from his community.

SINOPSIS

Tras la ocupación militar de Sahara Occidental por parte de Marruecos, en 1976, el gobierno marroquí persiguió y atacó a la población civil saharaui implantando una política de exterminio. Cientos de personas fueron forzadas a “desaparecer” en cárceles clandestinas, condenándolas a una muerte invisible y lenta. Pero algunos, como Soukeina, sobrevivieron. Llevaban más de 10 años desaparecidos, sufriendo torturas, aislados de la vida. Cuando salieron, su mundo se había roto en mil pedazos.

SYNOPSIS

After the military occupation of Western Sahara in 1976, Moroccan government attacked the civil population with hard repression, forcing hundreds of Saharan people to “disappear” in clandestine jails. An invisible and slow death was the only horizon. However, some prisoners were able to survive after suffering their own “extinction” for more than 10 years, ripped from their families, suffering torture, in total isolation. When they finally were released, their known world had changed radically.
